Dolphins

Not the greatest video, mind you.

Seeing marine life in any shape or form is incredibly exciting to me. While sailing on Mother Cramer, dolphins would swim alongside, surfing on the waves created as the ship breaks through the water. Everyone would peer over the side in a sort of calm awe. Off the coast of California, we were accompanied by dolphins for a brief period, and it reminded me of gliding along those warm Caribbean waters. Below, just a short video of the sunset while sailing from Newport Beach to San Diego.

A Casual Stroll to the East

Old Town Alexandria, Virginia

Washington, D.C.

The problem with waiting long to post photos and write about a trip is that you always forget. There was little to forget or remember on my trip to D.C. The trip was not bad at all, in fact my job put me up at extremely nice hotels in Old Town Alexandria — The Monaco and The Morrison House — but it was almost entirely a work trip and therefore I spent most, if not all my time in the office. So on that note, here are a few photos and anecdotes from when I did get out of my fabulous hotels.

Alexandria or D.C.?

The thought occurred to me, that I should be more aware of certain technicalities so as not to offend. It must be a great time expense for travel writers, because it does require some extra research and thought. On that note, I wanted to see if it begs clarification, that I’m technically living and working in Alexandria, Virginia and not Washington, D.C. proper. Everyone in Phoenix refers to this office as “the D.C. office”, but I wonder if there’s a massive difference to locals here? Would Alexandria locals be upset to be lumped together with D.C.?

At any rate, here are a handful of photos from a short walk around Old Town at dusk.

View from our Washington, D.C. office

Greeting from the nation’s capital.

For the next week, I’ll be working out of my company’s D.C. office. Unlike in Phoenix, I get a whole office for myself. And here’s the view:

That’s Alexandria City Hall. Off to a full week of work, and hopefully some fun too!
